Advertise with ToolsLiving

ToolsLiving has no ads or sponsors yet. This page sets out how we will work with brands when we start. Our readers come to us with a job in front of them. They want to know which bit, blade, glue or fastener works on their material, and how to finish the job. If your product helps them do that, we'd like to hear from you.

Ways to work with us

Newsletter sponsorship

Our newsletter, The Fix, is coming soon. Once it is running, each issue may carry one sponsor slot, marked "Sponsored" and kept apart from our own picks.

Display ads

We may show display ads later, through an advertising partner. That partner would sell and run those ads, so we don't sell banner space directly. Ads will never appear inside our calculators or above the quick answer at the top of a guide.

A brand may pay for a post about a product type. The rules below apply in full. A sponsored page says "Sponsored" at the top, above the headline, and names the sponsor.

Product loans and samples

You can lend or send us a product to look at. That doesn't promise coverage. If we write about it, the page says how we got it.

Our rules for every sponsor

These rules are not for sale and don't change with the size of the deal.

  1. Sponsors never buy a verdict. We say what we find, good or bad. If a product fails, the page says it failed.
  2. Sponsors never see a page first. You don't see or edit a page before it goes live.
  3. Paid means labeled. Paid content says "Sponsored" where readers see it first. The FTC asks that paid content be easy to spot as paid, and we follow that.
  4. Paid links are marked in our code. Links in sponsored content carry rel="sponsored", as Google asks.
  5. We don't sell links. No paid guest posts, no "do-follow" links and no links slipped into old articles.
  6. We say no to some offers. We turn down anything that pushes readers into unsafe DIY, such as gas or wiring work, and anything off our topic of tools and materials.

Read our editorial policy and affiliate disclosure for the full picture.
